Sequel…

Today’s post is a sort of sequel to the last two articles… (you can read them here… part-1, and part-2)

Actually a sister asked me a question after reading these posts… How can we use our hearts? And I thought maybe some others might also have the same thing on their minds… so instead of giving her the answer right away, I decided to write it here.

The fact is that all our actions are born in the heart in the form of thoughts and ideas… the stronger the idea, the greater is the motivation to act upon it… And the more we act on it, the deeper it goes into the heart… motivating us to work on it more… so it is like a chain reaction for maximum productivity… It looks so easy… but the problem is that it is equally easy for us to lose this motivation of the heart if we do not act on what we believe to be beneficial…

But how can it be that we know something to be so good for us… something that will raise our status with Allah… something that will make us truly successful… and yet we don’t do it? why not?

It is rather strange but true, that quite often the biggest opposition we face in following up our plans, is from our own self… we might think that outside factors stop us from doing what we want to do… like people’s disapproval, or shortage of time, or lack of suitable environment, or deficiency in health and other resources… But these things can only stop us if we admit defeat… and sometimes we are so ready to be defeated that we don’t even attempt to solve these issues… the core reason behind all of it, is nothing else except our love of comfort and convenience… and our fear of change… our discomfort with “extra” hard work… and sacrifice…

But if we really believe in Allah then we should know that we can do anything with His tawfeeq… because nothing is difficult or impossible when we have Allah’s help with us… it is the only fuel we need… But Allah gives it to us when we prove by our efforts that we truly desire to have it…

So we should all think about it… we must analyse ourselves… what are our strong points… what talents and capabilities Allah has blessed us with… what resources we have… and then think of ways to use all these blessings for the benefit of others… for the pleasure of Allah…

So this is what I meant by using the softness of the heart… When we do extra Ibadah and zikr in Zilhajj or Ramadan or other special days… the purpose is to come closer to Allah… and through this closeness the hearts are motivated to think deeply and to come up with ideas to please Allah more and more… So now is the time to start working on those ideas… and not to be discouraged by our weaknesses… rather have complete trust in Allah’s Power… He helps those who are willing to work hard… not for any recognition or appreciation from people… but ONLY for His sake…
