Do I believe in what I say?

Yesterday a sister forwarded to me an article which went right through my heart… making me aware of the reality of my beliefs… and forced me to rethink about the level of my truthfulness… Therefore I thought it should be shared with everyone… At the end of it I will give the link where you might be able to access the whole series… inshaAllah…

Here are a few points from the article…

Acting on what we believe is so important because our belief is either reinforced or negated based on our actions.

It means that when you take action on your belief then you are showing yourself and others that what you believe in is absolutely true. And vice versa.

In any area of your life, your results are evidence of your ACTIONS – not merely your speech.

How often do we SAY we believe a particular thing, or that we want to achieve a specific goal – but our actions are lacking, therefore we don’t get the result?

How often do we SAY what we think others want to hear, or what will make us accepted or popular, but in reality we’re faking it, so we fall on our faces?

===> How often do we KNOW something is good for us, but we don’t have the internal motivation to follow through on what it takes to reap the benefits, so remain at a perpetual standstill?

===> How often do we CHEAT our soul, but not affirming by our actions what it knows to be true – which leads to internal incongruence, depression, and self-loathing?

WHY DO WE FALL SHORT WHEN IT COMES TO ACTION?

Quite simply, because it’s hard. Staying in beneficial action often requires us to face – and evict, the darkest and most complacent parts of ourselves.
But that’s also the VERY reason that righteous action… inspired action…. beneficial action – is rewarded so highly, as Allah says in His Noble Book:

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

“Do people think that they will be left alone because they say: “We believe,” and will not be tested? (29:2)

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

ACTION is what separates the talkers from the doers, the thinkers from the achievers. You will never know what you could have become, what you could have achieved – until you take beneficial action.

And for the Believer, we know that EVERY beneficial action that we embark upon with the intention of pleasing to Allah – this counts as worship Alhamdulillah!

So in an effort to improve our practice of the deen, our level of success in this world, and our ability to be an example to others, let us focus on ensuring that our actions and our words are congruent.

===> Ask yourself the following….

– Am I living out (as best as possible) the things I know to be obligatory upon me?

– Do I encourage or admonish others in things that I don’t do or stay away from myself?

– Do I show gratefulness to Allah by increasing in my obedience to Him?

– Do I take the necessary steps to achieve the goals that I say I want to achieve?

– Am I acting as the woman that I KNOW I can be… was designed and MEANT to be?

– Am I pleased to return to my Lord in my current state, or what might I need to get in order?

Reflect deeply, examine any reasons why your actions may not be in alignment with your speech, and commit to getting into beneficial action.

“Indeed, they who have believed and done righteous deeds – those are the best of creatures. Their reward with Allah will be gardens of perpetual residence beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever, Allah being pleased with them and they with Him. That is for whoever has feared his Lord.” (98:7-8)
