Too Important to Ignore…

Last night we were at a wedding and as I looked upon the huge gathering, I thought how amazing it is that we don’t find time to visit our friends and relatives… even those we love so much… and we enjoy their company… yet we say we are too busy… and even if at times one of us does find time, then the other one is not available…

But then how come all these people got time to attend this function? Where did all their commitments vanish? All the excuses and reasons? The same distance and the same traffic and the same weather… didn’t prevent anyone from reaching that same place, on the same date and the same time… How?

The reason is “importance”… when something becomes important then we cannot ignore or delay it… then we find time for it… and we get the energy to do it… and we inevitably find all the resources to accomplish it…

How does it happen?

The fact is that Allah is the ultimate source of all power and it is He who gives us the strength and other resources for all our tasks… in other words, we cannot do anything without His help and His tawfeeq… And it is not restricted to religious acts only… rather all our actions depend on Allah’s tawfeeq…

So when we give importance to something then we seriously want to achieve it… and so we make the utmost effort for it… and when all these things are in place then Allah sends his help and we are able to do it…

In the Quran Allah says…

“we help all of them… these people and those too”

It means that Allah’s help comes to good people and also to those who are going against Him… Allah helps us to accomplish whatever we want to do…

So the thing that really struck me was that if Allah is willing to help people do things that are against His pleasure… then why wouldn’t He help those who want to gain His pleasure? The only reason why we complain so much about lack of “tawfeeq” and lack of “energy” and lack of “opportunities” to do good deeds… is that we ourselves are not serious about it… we just think that we want to do this or that… but the truth is that we don’t really think of it as extremely important or urgent… Because if we think of something as too big to be ignored… too important to be missed… then we would find time, energy and all the resources we need to accomplish it… just like attending a wedding…
